Quilting Services

Welcome to KimQuilt.  If you'd like to have your quilt finished on a professional quilting machine by an award winning quilter, contact kim@kimquilt.com or locate us on maps (click here).  Choose from a wide range of pantographs, Kim's amazing freehand specialties or your own special designs.
My name is Kim and I have been quilting using a Gammill longarm qulting machine for many years not to mention being an avid quilter myself.

Welcome to 2010.  Wishing you all a happy an prosperous year!

A while back a close friend, Melodee Wade (also a quilter), suggested I start a quilt service in the USA. Now, I've moved back to Australia and I specialize in freehand machine quilting but also I still create original quilt designs.

I have made available a few pictures of various pantographs and freehand quilting that I have done for various customers.

If you're interested in having your quilt finished by me, please email me at kim@kimquilt.com and send me details of your work.  I'm located in Bella Vista, NSW so if you're located in the North West (Norwest) of Sydney, the Hills District, then I'm close to you.  I have customers from Glenwood, Baulkham Hills, Riverstone, Windsor and Richmond, but if you're from Castle Hill, Glenhaven, Kellyville, Stanhope, Blacktown, Beaumont Hills, Quakers Hill etc, then I'm only a few minutes away.
I also run various patchwork quilting workshops.  An exiting one I did recently I called "Delicious to the Core" (Apple Core Quilt the easy way: Delicious to the Core Workshop 2009).  This workshop showed how to do a 100% machine made Apple Core quilt making apple core quilts faster and easier to make.

Also, when I find some interesting tools, I'll upload them to the Resources page (click here) for you to enjoy.

I would love to help you finish your masterpiece!

Happy Quilting
Kim.

I make lots of quilts for myself and I's like to brag a little so I'm putting together a brag page where I will show off!

The most recent work has been the Apple Core Quilt workshop.  If you're interested in a quilt pattern, email me, they cost $20 and it includes the Apple Core Template and colour printed instructions.

Preparing Your Quilt for Machine Quilting

Longarm quilting is done very differently to other quilting methods.  The quilt top, batting and backing are sandwiched by the quilting machine and so are best provided as three separate pieces.  There is no need to baste the quilt and in fact basting the quilt will require that it is unbasted before longarm quilting incurring extra time. The size of the backing and batting must be at least 10cm larger on all sides than the quilt top.
